How to Draw a Weedy Sea Dragon
Draw a weedy sea dragon in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and snout.
Step 1: Head and snout
Start at the back of the neck. Draw a round head and a long thin snout, back to the throat.
Tip Make the snout as long as the head and thin like a straw.
Step 2: Big eye and smile
Draw a big eye with a black dot, a cheek under it and a tiny smile at the snout tip.
Step 3: Slim body
Start at the neck. Draw a gently curved back and a tummy, down to a narrow tail base.
Step 4: Long tail
From the end of the back, sweep a long thin tail out to a point and back to the tummy.
Tip Let the tail bend gently. It never curls up like a snail.
Step 5: Back fin
In the middle of the back, draw a small fin that starts and stops on the back. Add 2 lines.
Step 6: Top leaves
Draw 2 small leaves that start and stop on the line: one on the head, one on the shoulder.
Step 7: Tummy and tail leaves
Draw 2 more leaves on the tummy and one on the tail, each starting and stopping on the line.
Step 8: Three spots
Draw 3 small round spots down the middle of the body.
Step 9: Bubbles
Above the snout tip, draw 3 bubbles floating up: small, bigger, biggest.
Step 10: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line from side to side. Grow 2 wavy seaweeds on the left, 1 on the right.
Step 11: Yellow fin and sand
Colour the back fin and the 3 spots yellow. Colour the sand sandy, down to the bottom of the paper.
Step 12: Pink cheek, blue bubbles
Colour the cheek pink and the bubbles light blue.
Step 13: Orange dragon
Colour the head, snout, body and tail orange, around the spots and cheek. Leave the eye white.
Step 14: Green leaves
Colour the 5 leaves and the seaweed green.
