How to Draw a Penguin and Chick
Draw a penguin and chick in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big head.
Step 1: The big head
Near the top draw a big egg for the head, a little wider low down.
Step 2: The long beak
In the middle of the head draw a long thin beak pointing down, like a carrot.
Step 3: Two eyes
Above the beak draw 2 oval eyes. Add a black dot in each, with a white shine.
Tip The dots sit low, so the penguin looks down at its chick.
Step 4: Two cheek patches
Start on the side of the head. Curve a line in and down, and stop low on the head.
Step 5: The tall body
Start under one cheek. Draw a tall egg down, round the bottom, and up to the other cheek.
Tip Make the body widest low down, like a pear.
Step 6: Two flippers
Start at each shoulder. Draw a long flipper out and down to a round tip, then back to the body.
Step 7: The white tummy
Start at the bottom of one patch. Draw a big U down and up to the other patch.
Step 8: The chick's head
Low down, in the middle of the tummy, draw a round head for the chick.
Step 9: The chick's face
Inside the head draw a heart shape with a round bottom. Add 2 eyes and a tiny beak.
Step 10: A fluffy body
Under its head draw a plump egg body. Start at each shoulder, curve a wing down, stop on the side.
Tip Rub out the tummy line inside the body.
Step 11: Feet and snow
Draw 2 wide feet with 3 round toes each, under the chick. Add a long snow line behind them.
Tip The chick stands on the big feet to keep warm.
Step 12: Yellow and orange
Colour the 2 cheek patches yellow and the long beak orange.
Step 13: A grey chick
Colour the chick's body and wings light grey. Colour the 2 big feet dark grey.
Step 14: Black feathers
Colour the big penguin black, and the chick's head and beak. Leave the tummy, eyes and chick's face white.
