How to Draw a Gladiator Helmet
Draw a gladiator helmet in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the dome.
Step 1: The dome
Above the middle of your paper draw a round dome like an upside-down bowl. Close it with a curved line.
Tip Leave room above the dome for a tall crest.
Step 2: Wide brim
Around the bottom of the dome draw a flat oval for the brim. It sticks out on both sides.
Tip The brim all the way round is what makes it a gladiator's helmet.
Step 3: Face guard
Start under the brim on the left. Draw a big U down and up to the brim's right side.
Step 4: Tall crest
On top of the dome draw a tall crest. Make it wider near the top, with a round end.
Step 5: Crest feathers
Start on the dome. Draw 3 lines up inside the crest, fanning out. Stop before the top.
Step 6: Middle ridge
Start at the middle of the brim. Draw a straight line down the face guard and stop at the bottom.
Step 7: Left grille holes
Left of the ridge draw 6 small round holes: 2 across and 3 down.
Tip Gladiators looked out through the little holes.
Step 8: Right grille holes
Right of the ridge draw 6 more holes to match the left side.
Step 9: The ground
Draw a ground line under the helmet, starting past its left side and stopping past its right side.
Step 10: Golden helmet
Colour the dome and the face guard yellow, around the holes. Leave the brim and crest white for now.
Step 11: Orange brim
Colour the brim orange, all the way round to both ends.
Step 12: Red crest
Colour the tall crest red, from the dome up to its round top.
Step 13: Dark holes
Colour inside all 12 holes black. Your gladiator helmet is done!
