How to Draw a Dome
Draw a dome in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big box.
Step 1: The big box
In the middle of your paper draw a big wide box for the building, with a flat top.
Tip Wide and grand, like a big stone box.
Step 2: The round drum
Start on the box top, in the middle. Draw a short wide drum up, across, and down to the box.
Step 3: The big dome
From the drum's top-left corner, poke out a little. Curve over like half a ball, down to the right corner.
Step 4: The flat band
Under the drum draw a long thin band along the top of the big box, sticking out past each side.
Step 5: Cap and dome lines
Draw a tiny tower and ball on the dome. Add 2 curved lines from the tower down to the drum.
Step 6: 4 columns
Under the band draw 4 tall thin columns, 2 each side. Put a short wider block on top of each.
Step 7: The door
Between the middle columns, start on the bottom line and draw a tall arched door, back down to the bottom.
Step 8: The windows
Between the columns on each side draw a window with a plus sign. Add 3 round windows on the drum.
Step 9: The steps
Start at the bottom left, draw down, along and up to the right. Add 2 wider steps and the ground.
Step 10: 2 bushes
At each end of the steps draw a bush with 3 round bumps, sitting on the ground line.
Step 11: Cream walls, green dome
Colour the walls and drum cream, around the columns, windows and door. Colour the dome and cap teal green.
Step 12: Grey band and steps
Colour the flat band and the 3 wide steps grey, and all the windows sky blue.
Step 13: Brown door, green bushes
Colour the door brown and the bushes leaf green. Go over all your lines and your domed building is done!
