How to Draw a Giant Anteater
Draw a giant anteater in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long head.
Step 1: Long head
On the left, draw a long head: round at the back, narrowing into a thin snout that dips down.
Tip Keep the snout thin, like a straw.
Step 2: Nose and smile
Colour a small black nose on the snout tip. Start under it and draw a short smile along the snout.
Step 3: Ear and eye
Draw a small round ear at the back of the head. Add 1 big eye with a black dot.
Step 4: Humped body
Start behind the ear. Draw a big bean body with a high hump, and stop under the head.
Step 5: Front leg
Start on the chest. Draw a thick leg down to a round paw. Stop on the tummy.
Tip Rub out the tummy line inside the leg.
Step 6: Back leg
Start on the tummy at the back. Draw a thick leg down to a round paw. Stop on the bottom.
Step 7: Far legs
Draw 2 far legs peeking out: one behind the front leg, one in front of the back leg.
Step 8: Toes and ground
Give each big paw 2 short toe lines. Draw a ground line under all 4 paws, nearly edge to edge.
Step 9: Bushy tail
Start high on the bottom. Draw a huge bushy tail sweeping out and down, and back up to the bottom.
Tip Add 2 long hair lines inside it.
Step 10: Shoulder stripe
Start on the back of the head. Draw 3 slanting lines up over the shoulder. Stop on the top line.
Step 11: Cream band
Colour the top band of the stripe cream.
Step 12: Stone grey
Colour the head, ear, body and 4 legs stone grey, around the nose and stripe. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Tail and stripe
Colour the bushy tail slate grey and the bottom band of the stripe black.
