How to Draw a Gecko
Draw a gecko in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wedge head.
Step 1: Wedge head
On the left, draw a wedge head: a rounded snout tip, a round top, and a short chin.
Step 2: Huge eye
Draw one HUGE circle eye filling the front of the head. Add a tall black slit pupil with a shine.
Step 3: Grin and nostril
From the snout tip, draw a grin back under the eye, curling up. Dot a nostril near the tip.
Step 4: Long low body
Behind the head, draw a long low egg body.
Step 5: Legs and tummy
Draw 2 bent legs from the body to the ankles. Join them with a tummy line. Rub out lines inside.
Step 6: Sticky toe pads
Start on the front ankle. Draw a flat foot with 3 round toe pads, back to the ankle. Do both.
Step 7: Branch and far legs
Draw a thin branch under the feet. Add a far leg peeking behind each leg, from tummy to branch.
Step 8: Long fat tail
From the back, draw a fat tail to a point, up to the back leg. Rub out the lines inside.
Step 9: Leopard spots
Dot small round spots over the back and down the tail, all different sizes.
Step 10: Cream tummy
Colour the tummy cream, under the tummy line.
Step 11: Colour it yellow
Colour the head, body, legs, feet and tail yellow, around the tummy and spots. Leave the eye white.
Step 12: Brown spots and branch
Colour all the spots brown and the branch wood brown.
