How to Draw a Garlic Knot
Draw a garlic knot in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the loop.
Step 1: The loop
Draw a fat sausage curled almost into a ring, like a big letter C with round ends.
Tip Garlic knots are ropes of dough tied in a knot.
Step 2: The end on top
Start inside the loop on its left. Draw a fat finger across the hole and over the right side.
Step 3: The end underneath
Join the loop's bottom end to its top end. Then draw a round end peeking out past it.
Step 4: Herb flecks
Draw 6 tiny tilted ovals scattered on the knot for flecks of garlic and parsley.
Step 5: A plate
Round the knot draw a big oval plate, wide enough for the whole knot to sit inside it.
Step 6: The rim
Draw a second oval a finger inside the plate for the rim. Keep it clear of the knot.
Step 7: Steam
Above the plate draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up.
Step 8: The table
Draw a table line under the plate from well left to well right, just touching its bottom.
Step 9: Tan dough
Colour all the dough tan, around the flecks.
Step 10: Green flecks
Colour the 6 flecks green.
Step 11: Blue plate
Colour the plate light blue, around the knot and in the gaps inside it. Your garlic knot is done!
