How to Draw a Gannet
Draw a gannet in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the top left, draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with a tiny chin bump.
Tip Leave room on the right for a long body, and room below for the sea.
Step 2: Dagger bill
Start on the front of the head. Draw a long dagger bill to a sharp point. Add a mouth line.
Step 3: One big eye
A finger behind the bill, draw a big round eye with a big black dot and a little shine.
Step 4: Chest and back
Curve a chest and a long back from the head. Stop both low and level, where the sea will go.
Tip A gannet floats low and long on the water, like a little boat.
Step 5: Pointed tail
From the round back end, draw a short pointed tail out to a point and back.
Step 6: Folded wing
Start under the head. Curve a long wing down along the side, and stop on the back near the tail.
Step 7: Wing tip
Near the tail, curve a line across the wing from the back down to its lower edge.
Step 8: Wavy sea
Draw a soft wavy sea line from edge to edge, touching the ends of the chest and the back.
Step 9: Yellow head
Colour the head a soft yellow, leaving the eye white.
Step 10: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue, under the wavy line all the way across the page.
Step 11: Grey bill, black tip
Leave the body, wing and tail white. Colour the long bill grey and just the wing tip black.
