How to Draw a Futon
Draw a futon in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the back mattress.
Step 1: The back mattress
Above the middle of your paper draw a big box with round top corners, for the back mattress.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the back, above its middle, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The seat mattress
Across the bottom of the back draw a long fat rounded box, a little wider, for the seat.
Step 5: The soft fold
A little under the top of the seat draw a soft line from side to side, where the mattress folds.
Step 6: The arms
On each side of the back draw a short flat bar sticking out, level with the seat top, for armrests.
Step 7: Slatted sides
Under each arm draw 2 thin slats straight down, like little fence posts, stopping a little above the legs.
Step 8: The frame base
Under the seat draw a long flat bar from the left slats to the right slats, for the frame.
Step 9: Legs and floor
Under the frame draw 2 short legs. Draw a floor line from near the left edge across to the right.
Step 10: Sparkles
Draw 3 four-point sparkles in the air around the futon, not touching it.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, yellow sparkles
Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink and the sparkles yellow.
Step 12: Blue mattresses
Colour both mattresses blue, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Wood frame
Colour the arms, slats, frame and legs wood brown. Your futon is done!
