How to Draw a Frozen Pond
Draw a frozen pond in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the frozen pond.
Step 1: The frozen pond
In the middle of your paper draw a big wobbly oval pond, much wider than tall.
Step 2: Cracks in the ice
On the ice draw 3 zig-zag cracks, 1 near the middle, 1 on the left and 1 on the right.
Step 3: Reeds
From the pond's left edge draw 3 reeds straight up, ending at different heights. Top each with an oval cattail.
Step 4: Rocks
Draw a round rock on the pond's edge at the bottom right, and a smaller one on the left edge.
Step 5: Far bank snow
A thumb above the top edge, draw snow bumps from left to right, stopping at each reed.
Step 6: Near bank snow
Draw more snow bumps the same way under the bottom edge, from the right end back to the left end.
Step 7: Sparkles
Draw 3 little 4-point sparkles on the ice, for the frosty shine.
Step 8: A snowy pine tree
Start on the top right bank. Draw a trunk, a pointy triangle and a snowy zig-zag across to its sides.
Tip Rub out the bumpy snow line where it runs through the tree.
Step 9: Falling snowflakes
In the sky draw 4 little snowflakes away from the reeds and tree. Make each one 3 short crossing lines.
Step 10: White snow, blue ice
Colour the snowy bank and the tree's snow cap white. Colour the ice sky blue, going round the rocks.
Step 11: Grey rocks, green tree
Colour the rocks grey and the pine tree leaf green, below its snow cap.
Step 12: Brown cattails and trunk
Colour the cattails brown and the tree trunk wood brown. Go over your lines!
