How to Draw a Fog Bank
Draw a fog bank in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the sea.
Step 1: The sea
Low on your paper, draw 2 long wavy lines from edge to edge for the sea.
Step 2: The fog top
Above the sea, start at the left edge. Draw a row of soft round bumps to the right edge.
Tip A fog bank is a cloud lying on the sea. It hides almost everything.
Step 3: Front fog roll
Start on the sea, left of the middle. Curve up, then draw small soft bumps to the right edge.
Step 4: Back fog roll
Start at the left edge, higher up. Draw soft bumps to the right, then curve down to the front roll.
Step 5: The tower
On the left, draw a tower rising out of the fog top, a little narrower at the top.
Step 6: The stripe
Across the tower draw 2 lines, a little apart, for a stripe.
Step 7: The walkway
On top of the tower, draw a flat box a little wider than the tower for the walkway.
Step 8: Lamp and roof
On the walkway draw a lamp box. On top of it draw a pointed roof.
Step 9: Yellow lamp, blue sky
Colour the lamp yellow and the sky light blue, all around the lighthouse. Leave the tower and walkway white.
Step 10: Grey fog
Colour all the fog light grey, right out to the edges of your paper.
Step 11: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue, from the first wavy line down to the bottom edge.
Step 12: Red roof and stripe
Colour the roof and the stripe red. Your fog bank is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a fog bank, drawn by you.
