How to Draw a Frame
Draw a frame in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the frame.
Step 1: The frame
In the middle of your paper draw a wide box with soft corners, a little wider than it is tall.
Tip Keep the corners soft and round, like a TV screen.
Step 2: The picture
Inside it draw a second box, a thumb in all round, so the frame is a thick border.
Step 3: A sun
In the top-right of the picture draw a round sun with six short rays round it.
Step 4: Two hills
Along the bottom of the picture draw 2 round hills side by side, like 2 camel humps.
Step 5: A cloud
In the top-left of the picture draw a little cloud of bumps.
Step 6: Corner studs
Draw a tiny round stud in each corner of the frame.
Step 7: The stand
Behind the frame on the right draw a stand: 2 close lines slanting from halfway down to the ground.
Step 8: Ground line
Draw one ground line under the frame from far left to far right, under the foot of the stand.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw a sparkle star on each side of the frame.
Step 10: Yellow sun, white cloud
Go over your lines, then colour the sun, the studs and the sparkles yellow. Leave the cloud white.
Step 11: Sky and green picture
Colour the sky blue around the sun and the cloud, and the hills green.
Step 12: Wood frame and stand
Colour the frame border and the stand wood brown, going around the yellow studs. Your picture frame is standing!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a frame, drawn by you.
