How to Draw a Football
Draw a football in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: fat oval ball.
Step 1: Fat oval ball
In the middle, draw a big fat oval on its side, nearly twice as wide as tall. Round the ends.
Tip No points: each end is a blunt round nose.
Step 2: Two bold stripes
Near each end, draw 2 curved lines a thumb apart. Start on the top edge and stop on the bottom.
Step 3: Two big eyes
In the middle, draw 2 big round eyes side by side. Add a black dot and a shine in each.
Step 4: Smile and tongue
Start under the left eye. Draw a wide smile and stop under the right eye. Hang a tongue from it.
Step 5: The seam
Start on the left stripe, a finger below the top. Curve over the top and stop on the right stripe.
Tip Keep the seam a finger inside the top edge all the way.
Step 6: Five stitches
Draw 5 short stitches across the seam, evenly spaced. The outer ones lean out like wheel spokes.
Step 7: Ground line
From the left side, draw a straight ground line that touches the ball's bottom. Stop on the right side.
Tip The ball sits on the line, it does not sink in.
Step 8: Grass tufts
On the ground past each end of the ball, draw a tuft of 3 pointy grass blades.
Step 9: Pink and green
Colour a pink cheek under each eye, and colour the tongue pink. Colour the grass tufts green.
Step 10: Brown ball
Colour the ball brown around the cheeks and tongue. Leave the 2 stripes and the eyes white.

Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a football, drawn by you.
