How to Draw a Foo Dog

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a foo dog in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the face.

Print

  1. Step 1: The face

Near the top of your paper draw a fat egg face with a flat chin and fat cheeks.

Tip Leave room all round for the curls, and half the paper below.

  2. Step 2: Big round eyes

Above the middle of the face draw 2 big round eyes a thumb apart. Colour a black dot in each.

  3. Step 3: Curly mane

Around the whole face draw a ring of tight little curls, like a wreath. Add a few C curls inside.

  4. Step 4: Nose and cheek pads

A finger under the eyes draw a small black triangle nose. Under it draw 2 plump cheek pads touching.

  5. Step 5: Big grin

Start on the bottom of the left cheek pad. Draw a wide smile under both pads, stop on the right.

  6. Step 6: Stone block and body

Draw a low stone block with a top edge line. Draw a U body from the chin down onto it.

Tip The body is narrower than the mane and swells out at the bottom.

  7. Step 7: Front legs

Start on the mane beside the body. Draw the right leg down to a fat mitten paw and back up.

Tip The left leg is shorter: its paw rests on the ball later.

  8. Step 8: Back paws

Start on the body a finger up. Draw a half-oval back paw on each side, down to the block.

  9. Step 9: Ball under the paw

Under the left paw draw a ball sitting on the block, so the paw rests on it. Add a band.

  10. Step 10: Tail with a pom

Start behind the right back paw. Draw a fat tail that thins as it curls up to a pom.

  11. Step 11: Toes

In each front paw draw 2 short toe curves from the sole, and 1 in each back paw.

  12. Step 12: Peach cheek pads

Colour the cheek pads with a peach crayon.

  13. Step 13: Grey body and block

Colour the face around the pads, body, legs, paws and tail light grey, and the block darker grey.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  14. Step 14: Teal mane, red ball

Colour the curly mane and the tail pom teal, and the ball red. Your foo dog is done!
