How to Draw a Folding Chair
Draw a folding chair in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the long bar.
Step 1: The long bar
Start high on the left. Draw a long thin bar leaning down to the right. Stop at the floor.
Tip Draw 2 long lines a finger apart, then close both ends.
Step 2: The seat
Across the middle of the bar, draw a flat slanted seat. Draw a line inside for its thick edge.
Tip Most of the seat sticks out to the right of the bar.
Step 3: The backrest
From the top of the bar, draw a slanted panel going right, with one round corner.
Step 4: The far bar
From the backrest's right corner, draw a bar down to the seat. Carry it on below the seat.
Tip It leans the same way as the long bar.
Step 5: Back legs
From under the seat, draw 2 legs leaning down to the left. One passes behind the long bar.
Tip This X shape is how the chair folds flat.
Step 6: Two cross bars
Near the floor, join the 2 back legs with a short slanted bar. Join the 2 front bars too.
Step 7: A round rug
Draw a long flat oval rug round all 4 feet. Lift your pencil when you reach a leg.
Step 8: Yellow rug
Colour the rug yellow, around the legs.
Step 9: Grey frame
Colour the bars, the legs and the cross bars grey.
Step 10: Blue seat
Colour the seat and the backrest blue. Go over your lines and your folding chair is done!
