How to Draw a Braces Smile
Draw a braces smile in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the lips.
Step 1: The lips
In the middle of your paper draw a big smiling mouth, with a dip in the top lip.
Tip Braces sit on the teeth, so we need a big grin.
Step 2: Inside the mouth
Inside the lips draw a straight line across the top from corner to corner, and a deep U under it.
Step 3: The row of teeth
Start near the left corner. Draw 6 bumpy teeth under the top line, stopping near the right corner.
Tip Make the 2 end teeth a little shorter, so they fit inside the mouth.
Step 4: Tooth lines
Between each pair of bumps draw 2 short lines down, with a gap in the middle for the wire.
Step 5: The brackets
In the middle of each tooth draw a tiny square bracket.
Step 6: The wire
Join the brackets with short straight lines from one bracket to the next.
Step 7: The tongue
Draw the tongue: a wide hill that starts and ends on the bottom curve of the mouth.
Step 8: Sparkles
Draw a sparkle in the air on each side of the smile.
Step 9: Pink tongue
Go over your lines, then colour the tongue pink.
Step 10: Red and blue bands
Colour the first, third and fifth brackets red and the others blue.
Step 11: Red lips, black mouth
Colour the lips red and the mouth black around the white teeth and the tongue. Your braces smile is done!
