How to Draw a Flying Robot

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a flying robot in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round box head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Round box head

Near the top draw a wide box head with a round top and soft corners.

Tip Leave lots of room below for the body and the flames.

  2. Step 2: Antenna

From the middle of the head top draw a short line up. Stop at a small ball.

  3. Step 3: Happy face

Draw 2 big round eyes with black dots. Add a U smile from under one eye to the other.

Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.

  4. Step 4: Neck and body

Start under the head. Draw a short neck down to a big body that gets narrower at the bottom.

  5. Step 5: Chest light

High on the body draw a big round light with a ring inside. Add a long flat slot under it.

  6. Step 6: Arms out wide

From each shoulder draw a long arm tube out and up, like wings on a plane.

Tip Each arm gets a little thinner towards the end.

  7. Step 7: Claw hands

On the end of each arm draw a round claw with a V bite cut out, like a pie.

  8. Step 8: Two legs

From the bottom of the body draw 2 short straight legs, with a gap between them.

  9. Step 9: Rocket boots

Under each leg draw a boot like a bell: narrow at the top, wide and flat at the bottom.

  10. Step 10: Rocket flames

Under each boot draw a long pointed flame. Draw a small flame inside each one.

Tip The flames push the robot up into the sky.

  11. Step 11: Yellow and orange

Colour the chest light, antenna ball and small flames yellow. Colour the big flames orange around them.

  12. Step 12: Grey arms and legs

Colour the arms, the claws, the neck and the legs grey.

  13. Step 13: Red boots

Colour the 2 rocket boots red.

  14. Step 14: Blue robot

Colour the head and the body blue, around the face and the light. Leave the eyes white.

Tip Your flying robot is ready for take-off!
