How to Draw a Flower Blooming
Draw a flower blooming in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: three stems.
Step 1: Three stems
Near the bottom draw 3 thin stems, a little wider at the bottom. The left is shortest, the right tallest.
Tip One flower, three days: a bud, half open, and fully open.
Step 2: The bud
On the left stem draw a fat teardrop bud, pointed at the top. Add 3 little lines at the bottom.
Step 3: The half-open cup
On the middle stem draw a cup of petals: a U that opens into 2 soft points, dipping between.
Step 4: Petals opening out
Draw a petal leaning out on each side of the cup, like open arms. Add a small petal peeking up.
Step 5: The open middle
On the right stem draw a small round circle for the middle of the open flower.
Step 6: Open petals
Round the circle draw 8 plump petals: top, bottom, left, right, then the 4 gaps.
Step 7: Leaves
Near the bottom of each stem draw 2 pointed leaves growing up and out, one on each side.
Step 8: The ground
Start left of the bud and draw a ground line along the stem bottoms. Stop past the open flower.
Step 9: Yellow middle, pink petals
Colour the open flower's middle yellow, then its 8 petals pink around the middle.
Step 10: Pink bud and cup
Colour the bud and the half-open cup petals pink.
Step 11: Green stems and leaves
Colour all 3 stems and the leaves leaf green. Your blooming flower is done!
