How to Draw a Flipping Pancake
Draw a flipping pancake in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pan's rim.
Step 1: The pan's rim
Low on the left, draw a wide flat oval, half as wide as your paper.
Tip Leave room on the right for the handle and above for the pancake.
Step 2: Inside the pan
Inside the oval, draw a smaller oval that sits closer to the bottom edge.
Step 3: Under the pan
Start at the oval's left end. Draw a deep smile under it, and stop at its right end.
Step 4: The handle
From the right side of the pan, draw a long sausage handle pointing right and a little down.
Step 5: The flying pancake
High above the pan, draw a tilted oval. Add a smile under it, from end to end.
Tip The smile gives the pancake its thick edge.
Step 6: Toasted middle
Inside the pancake, draw a smaller tilted oval for its toasted middle.
Step 7: Whoosh lines
Draw a curved line up each side of the pancake, from near the pan to near the pancake.
Tip These lines show the pancake flying up and turning over.
Step 8: A mitten grips
Draw a mitten over the handle's end, thumb on top. Rub out the handle inside it.
Step 9: Mitten cuff
On the mitten's far end, draw a wider cuff band. Add 3 short lines along it.
Step 10: Tan and orange
Colour the pancake tan, around its middle. Colour the toasted middle orange.
Step 11: Grey pan
Colour the inside of the pan light grey. Colour the rim, the outside and the handle dark grey.
Step 12: Red mitten
Colour the mitten red and its cuff yellow. Go over your lines.
