How to Draw a Bramble
Draw a bramble in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the stem.
Step 1: The stem
Start on the ground at the left. Draw a long stem arching up and over to the right, getting thinner.
Tip A bramble stem bends over like a rainbow.
Step 2: Thorns
Draw 7 small pointy thorns along the stem: 5 on the outside and 2 inside the arch.
Step 3: Three leaves
Along the outside of the stem draw 3 fat pointed leaves, each one starting on the stem.
Step 4: Tip leaf
At the thin end of the stem draw 1 more pointed leaf, pointing down.
Step 5: Leaf veins
Start at the stem and draw a line along the middle of each leaf, stopping short of the tip.
Step 6: Berry stalks
Under the arch draw 3 short stalks hanging down from the stem, well apart.
Step 7: The berries
On the end of each stalk draw a bumpy egg with round bumps all the way round.
Tip Blackberries grow on brambles. Keep each berry clear of the stem.
Step 8: Leafy caps
On top of each berry, where the stalk joins, draw a little star of pointy leaves.
Tip Rub out the berry line inside each star.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line from near the left edge to near the right. Add 2 grass blades on the right.
Step 10: Green leaves
Go over your lines. Colour the 4 leaves and the 3 little caps green.
Step 11: Brown stem
Colour the stem and all its thorns brown.
Step 12: Purple berries
Colour the 3 berries dark purple around their caps, leaving a little white shine on each. Done!
