How to Draw the Flatiron Building
Draw the Flatiron Building in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the narrow front.
Step 1: The narrow front
In the middle draw a tall thin box standing on the ground. This is the pointy front of the building.
Tip The Flatiron is shaped like a slice of cake.
Step 2: The left side
From the front's top left corner, slant a little down to the left, go down, then back to the front.
Tip Only slant a little, so it looks tall and not like a house roof.
Step 3: The right side
From the front's top right corner, slant a little down to the right, go down, then back to the front.
Step 4: The top ledge
Along the top draw a thick ledge that follows the slant and sticks out a little past both sides.
Step 5: The bottom floor
A little above the ground, draw a line from the far left edge across to the far right edge.
Step 6: The door
At the bottom of the front draw a small arched door standing on the ground.
Step 7: Top windows
Under the ledge draw 3 rows of small windows, 2 in each row, on both sides.
Tip Tilt each window a little, following the slant of the ledge.
Step 8: More windows
Under them draw 3 more rows of 2 windows on each side, stopping above the bottom floor line.
Step 9: Ground line
Draw a long ground line under the building, from near the left edge to near the right.
Step 10: Sky windows
Colour all the windows sky blue.
Step 11: Tan stone
Colour the front and both sides tan, going around the windows and the door.
Step 12: Grey ledge, slate door
Colour the top ledge grey and the door slate. Your Flatiron Building is done!
