How to Draw a Flapper

Draw a flapper in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.

Step 1: Egg head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room above for a feather and below for the dress and legs.
Step 2: The face
Below the middle of the head draw 2 oval eyes with a black dot. Add a nose and smile.
Step 3: Bob haircut
Draw short hair round the head: a straight fringe on top, and sides that curl in at the jaw.
Tip A bob is short hair cut level with the chin.
Step 4: Headband and plume
Draw a band across the hair with a round jewel. Behind the jewel draw a soft feather curling over.
Step 5: Neck and dress
Draw 2 neck lines. Start at one, draw a straight dress with a bumpy hem, stop at the other.
Step 6: Hip band and fringe
Draw a band across the hips. Under it draw a row of small fringe bumps from edge to edge.
Step 7: Long beads
Draw a long necklace of 11 small round beads, from one side of the neck down and back up.
Step 8: Arms
From each sleeve draw 2 lines down for the arm, closer together at the wrist. Stop at the wrist.
Step 9: Mitten hands
Under each arm draw a mitten: start at the outside wrist, round the fingers, stop at the inside wrist.
Step 10: Legs and shoes
From the hem draw 2 lines down for each leg. Stop at the ankle. Add 2 shoes and the ground.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck, arms, hands and legs peach, with 2 pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Yellow bands, pink feather
Colour the headband and the hip band yellow. Colour the feather and the jewel pink.
Step 13: Purple dress
Colour the dress purple, around the yellow band. Leave the beads white, like pearls.
Step 14: Black hair and shoes
Colour the hair and both shoes black. Go over your lines. Your flapper is done!
