How to Draw a Dancing Person

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a dancing person in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave room on the right for a raised arm and a kicked-out leg.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 eyes, a nose and a smile. Add a C ear each side, from the head back to it.

  3. Step 3: Soft hair cap

Start on the left of the head. Draw round tufts over the top, down to the right. Add a hairline.

  4. Step 4: Neck and T-shirt

Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a T-shirt, right sleeve pointing up, ending at the right one.

  5. Step 5: Arms down and up

From each sleeve draw an arm, one down to the wrist and one bending up beside the head.

  6. Step 6: Mitten hands

On the left arm draw a mitten hand hanging down. On the raised arm draw a mitten pointing up.

  7. Step 7: Shorts

Start at the T-shirt's bottom left corner. Draw shorts down and back up to the bottom right corner.

  8. Step 8: Dancing legs

From the shorts draw a left leg down to the ankle, and a right leg kicking out to the side.

  9. Step 9: Sneakers

Draw a sneaker on each ankle, toes pointing out. Add a line along each sole.

  10. Step 10: The ground

Draw a long straight ground line under the sneakers, wider than the dancer.

  11. Step 11: Music notes

Left of the head draw 2 music notes: a little oval with a stem up and a short flag.

  12. Step 12: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Dab pink cheeks, then colour the face, ears, neck, arms, hands and legs peach around them. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Orange T-shirt, blue shorts

Colour the T-shirt orange and the shorts blue.

  14. Step 14: Brown hair, red sneakers

Colour the hair brown, both sneakers red and the notes black. Go over your lines. Done!
