How to Draw an Astronomer
Draw an astronomer in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, left of the middle, draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip The telescope stands on the right.
Step 2: Face and glasses
Below the middle of the head draw 2 eyes, a tiny nose, a smile and eyebrows. Add big round glasses.
Step 3: Tufty hair
Start on the left at eyebrow height. Draw soft tufts over the top, then a curved hairline back.
Step 4: Jumper and star
Start under the chin with 2 neck lines. Draw a jumper down to the hem. Add a chest star.
Step 5: Long sleeves
From the left shoulder draw an arm down to the wrist. Bend the right arm out and up.
Tip The right fist will hold the telescope.
Step 6: Hands
On the left wrist draw a round hanging hand. On the right draw a fist with a thumb on top.
Step 7: Telescope
Through the right fist draw a thin tube, then a wider tube up to an oval lens at the top.
Tip The tube passes behind the fist, so the fist grips it.
Step 8: Tripod
Start under the wide tube. Draw 3 long straight legs spreading down to the ground.
Step 9: Moon and stars
In the top right corner draw a crescent moon like a C. Add 2 little plus-sign twinkles.
Step 10: Trousers and shoes
Start at the left end of the jumper hem. Draw 2 trouser legs, ending at the right end. Add shoes.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck and hands peach. Add a pink circle on each cheek.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
Step 12: Yellow moon, grey trousers
Colour the moon yellow, and the trousers and the telescope lens grey.
Step 13: Brown telescope, navy jumper
Colour the telescope brown around the lens, then the hair and shoes. Colour the jumper navy, leaving the star white.
Tip Go over your lines. Your astronomer is done!
