How to Draw a Fishing Lure
Draw a fishing lure in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.
Step 1: The body
Across the middle draw a long fish shape: a round nose on the left, a thin tail on the right.
Tip Make the belly a little deeper than the back.
Step 2: The diving lip
Under the nose draw a rounded tongue slanting down and forward. Start and stop on the chin.
Tip The lip makes the lure dive.
Step 3: A big eye
Near the nose draw a big circle eye. Colour a black dot inside, leaving a tiny white shine.
Step 4: The side line
Start at the nose tip. Draw a long curve along the body, dipping low, to the tail tip.
Step 5: Three stripes
On the back draw 3 short curved stripes, from the top edge down to the side line.
Step 6: Two rings
Draw a small ring on the nose tip and another on the tail tip.
Step 7: The fishing line
From the nose ring draw 1 straight line up and to the left, stopping near the corner.
Step 8: The hook bend
From the tail ring draw 2 lines straight down. Curl each one left into a U.
Tip Keep the 2 lines a pencil width apart all the way round.
Step 9: The sharp point
Start at the ends of the U. Draw both lines up to 1 sharp point, with a thorn spike inside.
Step 10: Yellow belly, blue lip
Go over your lines. Colour the belly under the side line yellow and the lip light blue.
Step 11: Green back
Colour the back above the side line green, going around the eye. Leave the eye white.
Step 12: Grey hook
Colour the hook grey, and your fishing lure is ready to catch a fish!
