How to Draw Finger Puppets
Draw finger puppets in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the hand.
Step 1: The hand
In the middle draw a big hand held up: a wide palm, 4 fingers with round tips and a thumb.
Tip The middle 2 fingers are tallest, and each finger gets a little thinner toward its tip.
Step 2: 4 puppet heads
On the tip of each finger draw a big round head, wider than the finger.
Step 3: Round eyes
On each head draw 2 round eyes close together, with a black dot in each.
Step 4: Tiny smiles
Under each pair of eyes draw a small U smile.
Step 5: Cat and bear ears
On the first head draw 2 pointy triangle cat ears. On the second draw 2 small round bear ears.
Step 6: Bunny and dog ears
On the third head draw 2 tall oval bunny ears. On the fourth draw 2 floppy dog ears hanging down.
Step 7: Puppet bodies
Start under each head. Draw a little sleeve body down over the finger, across, and back up to the head.
Tip Make each body a little wider than its finger, so it slides on.
Step 8: The sleeve cuff
Across the bottom of the hand draw a wide band for the cuff, sticking out a little each side.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 4 chunky 4-point sparkles around the hand to make it shine.
Step 10: Yellow and peach
Go over your lines. Colour the sparkles yellow and the hand peach.
Step 11: Tan dog, ginger cat
Colour the dog puppet and its ears tan, and the cat puppet and its ears ginger. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Grey bunny, brown bear
Colour the bunny puppet and its ears grey, and the bear puppet and its ears brown.
Step 13: Blue cuff
Colour the cuff blue. Done!
