How to Draw a Farmyard

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a farmyard in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: barn roof.

Print

  1. Step 1: Barn roof

Near the top draw a barn roof: a point in the middle, a bend each side and a flat bottom.

Tip Keep the barn in the top half. The animals go underneath.

  2. Step 2: Walls and door

Start under the roof. Draw the wall down, across and up. Stop at the roof. Add a square door.

  3. Step 3: Door cross

Draw a big X on the door, from corner to corner.

  4. Step 4: Cow's body

Draw a ground line behind the barn. Low on the left draw a long cow body with 2 legs.

Tip The back is nearly flat. Each leg ends in a flat hoof.

  5. Step 5: Cow's head

At the right end of the body draw a big soft head. Add a snout, 2 horns and 2 ears.

Tip Rub out the body line inside the head.

  6. Step 6: Cow's face and patches

Give the cow 2 dot eyes and a smile. Draw 2 wobbly patches on its body.

  7. Step 7: Cow's legs and tail

Draw 2 more legs peeking behind the cow's legs. Add a thin tail with a leaf tuft.

  8. Step 8: Pig

On the right draw a fat pig body with 2 short legs and a round head. Add 2 legs behind.

Tip The pig is lower and rounder than the cow. Rub out the body line inside the head.

  9. Step 9: Pig's face and tail

Draw an oval snout with 2 nostrils, 2 dot eyes and 2 pointed ears. Add a curly tail.

  10. Step 10: Hen

Low in the middle draw a small hen: a round head, a plump body, a pointed tail and a wing.

  11. Step 11: Comb, beak and feet

Add a comb with 3 bumps, a pointed beak, a wattle, a dot eye and 2 legs with 3 toes.

  12. Step 12: Pink and yellow

Colour the pig and the cow's snout and ears pink. Colour the beak, horns and tail tuft yellow.

  13. Step 13: Red and brown

Colour the barn walls, the door and the hen's comb and wattle red. Colour the hen and the roof brown.

  14. Step 14: Green and black

Colour the grass green, around the animals. Colour the cow's 2 patches black. The cow stays white.
