How to Draw a Facepalm

Draw a facepalm in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.
Step 2: Shut eye, small smile
On the head's left side, draw 1 short curve for a shut eye. Add an eyebrow and a small smile.
Tip The other eye and the nose will hide under a hand.
Step 3: Soft hair cap
Start on the head's left side. Draw round tufts over the top, stopping on the right side. Add a hairline.
Step 4: Neck and T-shirt
Draw 2 neck lines under the chin. From the left one, draw a short-sleeved T-shirt round to the right one.
Step 5: Arm at the side
Start under the left sleeve. Draw an arm down to a round mitten hand with a thumb, and back up.
Step 6: Hand on the face
From the right sleeve draw an arm out to an elbow, then up to a hand on the face.
Tip 4 short fingers point up into the hair, with the thumb at the side.
Step 7: A sweat drop
Beside the head on the left draw a little teardrop, point up, for a sweat drop.
Step 8: Trousers
Start at the T-shirt's bottom left corner. Draw 2 long trouser legs, stopping at the bottom right corner.
Step 9: Shoes
From each trouser hem draw a round shoe, toe pointing out, with a flat sole, back to the hem.
Step 10: Belt and ground
Draw a belt across the top of the trousers, side to side. Draw a long ground line under the shoes.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheek
Colour the face, neck, arms and hands peach, with a pink cheek.
Step 12: Red shirt, blue trousers
Colour the T-shirt red and the trousers blue.
Step 13: Brown hair, blue drop
Colour the hair, belt and shoes brown and the sweat drop sky blue. Go over your lines. Oh no, facepalm!
