How to Draw an Embroidery Hoop
Draw an embroidery hoop in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the hoop.
Step 1: The hoop
Draw a big circle in the middle of your paper, with a little room left on top.
Tip Turn your paper as you go to keep the circle round.
Step 2: The inner ring
Draw a second circle just inside the first, a finger apart all the way round.
Step 3: The clasp
On the very top draw a small box. Split it with a short line down the middle.
Step 4: The screw
From the right side of the box draw a short bar with a rounded knob on its end.
Step 5: The flower
High on the cloth draw a flower: 5 round bumps in a ring, then a circle inside.
Step 6: The stem
Start under the flower. Draw a line straight down and stop before the ring.
Step 7: Two leaves
Draw 2 pointed leaves, one each side, starting on the stem and pointing up and out.
Step 8: The needle
On the right draw a long thin needle, round at the bottom and pointed at the top.
Step 9: The thread
Start at the needle's round end. Draw a wavy thread hanging down, and stop before the ring.
Step 10: Cream cloth
Go over your lines. Colour the cloth cream, around the flower, the leaves and the needle.
Step 11: Yellow and pink
Colour the middle of the flower yellow and the petals pink.
Step 12: Green and grey
Colour the leaves green. Colour the needle, the bar and the knob grey.
Step 13: Wooden hoop
Colour the hoop and the little box brown like wood. Your embroidery hoop is done!
