How to Draw a Bird Skull
Draw a bird skull in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the round head.
Step 1: The round head
Start in the middle. Draw a round head over the top, round the back and under. Stop below your start.
Tip It looks like a fat letter C the wrong way round. The gap is for the beak.
Step 2: The beak
From the top end draw a long curved beak to a sharp point, then straight back to the bottom end.
Tip The top of the beak bends like a hill. The bottom is nearly flat.
Step 3: Eye hole
At the front of the round head, draw a big round eye hole.
Tip A bird skull has a very big eye hole.
Step 4: Nostril
On the beak, near the eye hole, draw a long thin hole that slants the same way as the beak.
Step 5: Bottom jaw
Start under the beak near its tip. Draw a curved jaw bone back and stop under the round head.
Tip The jaw is thin at the tip and fatter at the back.
Step 6: Two cracks
Zigzag a small crack down from the top of the head, and another down from the top of the beak.
Step 7: Ground line
Draw a straight ground line under the jaw, stopping short of the edges.
Step 8: Pebbles
Add 3 small pebbles on the ground: 2 behind the skull and 1 in front of the beak.
Step 9: Sand bone
Go over your lines. Colour the head, the beak and the jaw sand, leaving the 2 holes white.
Step 10: Grey pebbles
Colour the 3 pebbles light grey.
Step 11: Black holes
Colour the eye hole and the nostril black. Your bird skull is done!
