How to Draw an Elk Head
Draw an elk head in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Below the middle of your paper draw a long soft egg head, wide at the top, narrower at the bottom.
Tip Leave lots of room above for the tall antlers.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Just above the middle of the head draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots and white shines.
Step 3: Nose and smile
Low on the face draw a black triangle nose. From its point draw a short line down into a smile.
Step 4: Pale muzzle
Start on the left jaw. Draw a rainbow up over the nose and stop on the right jaw.
Step 5: Leaf ears
On each top corner of the head draw a leaf ear pointing out, with a small leaf inside it.
Step 6: Antler beams
On top of the head draw 2 tall thick beams, leaning out wide, then turning up to round tips.
Tip Make them as tall as the head.
Step 7: Antler points
On top of each beam draw 3 curved points standing up like candles, each one further out and higher.
Tip With its tip, each antler now has 4 points.
Step 8: Shaggy neck
Start behind each cheek and draw the neck down and out. Join the ends with 5 hanging bumps.
Tip The bumps are the shaggy mane, so keep them soft and round.
Step 9: Tan antlers
Go over your lines. Colour the antlers tan and the muzzle a pale sand colour.
Step 10: Peach and pink
Colour the 2 ear middles peach. Colour a pink cheek on each side of the face.
Step 11: Brown fur
Colour the head and ears wood brown, around the muzzle, cheeks and ear middles. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Dark shaggy mane
Colour the neck and its shaggy mane dark brown, and your elk is done!
