How to Draw an Elf
Draw an elf in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.
Step 1: Egg head
Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room above for a tall floppy hat.
Step 2: Friendly face
Draw 2 oval eyes with a small eyebrow over each. Add a little nose and a big smile.
Step 3: Pointy ears
On each side, draw a pointy ear. Start level with the eyes and come back to the head lower down.
Step 4: Floppy hat
Above the eyebrows, draw a tall hat bending over to a tip on the right. Hang a bell under it.
Step 5: Neck and tunic
Draw 2 neck lines, then a V collar and sloping shoulders from them. Add 2 sides down to a zigzag hem.
Tip Leave a gap on each side for the arms.
Step 6: Long sleeves
Carry each shoulder line on, down to the wrist. Draw a second line from the armpit. Add a cuff curve.
Step 7: Belt and buckle
Draw a belt line across the tunic, from side to side. Add a square buckle in the middle.
Step 8: Mitten hands
At the bottom of each arm, draw a round mitten with a little thumb pointing in toward the body.
Step 9: Legs in tights
Start under the zigzag hem. Draw 2 lines down for each leg. Stop near the page bottom, leaving room for shoes.
Tip Make the 2 lines a little closer at the ankle.
Step 10: Curly-toe shoes
Under each leg, draw a shoe with a long toe curling up and back. Draw a ground line under them.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink, then the face, ears, neck and hands peach around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Yellow bell, red tights
Colour the bell and the buckle yellow, and the legs red for the tights.
Step 13: Green elf, brown shoes
Colour the hat, tunic and sleeves green, around the buckle, and the shoes brown. Go over your lines.
