How to Draw a Piano Player

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a piano player in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Egg head

On the left side of your paper, a little above the middle, draw an egg head.

Tip Keep the right half of your paper empty for the piano.

  2. Step 2: The face

On the right half of the head draw 2 oval eyes with black dots, a tiny nose and a smile.

Tip The face sits to the right because the kid looks at the music.

  3. Step 3: Hair and ponytail

Draw hair over the top and down the back of the head. Add a ponytail hanging at the back.

  4. Step 4: Neck and body

Draw a short neck. Under it draw a narrow body with a round chest and a flat bottom.

  5. Step 5: Stool

Just under the body draw a flat seat on 2 legs. Draw a long floor line under the legs.

  6. Step 6: Legs and shoes

Draw a leg along the seat that bends down at the knee, the other leg peeking behind. Add 2 shoes.

Tip The feet do not reach the floor. They dangle.

  7. Step 7: Piano case

On the right draw a tall box on the floor with a thin lid. Add a shelf over the knees.

Tip The piano is a little taller than the kid.

  8. Step 8: Black and white keys

On the shelf draw a long thin box. Add 2 lines down it and a black key on each line.

  9. Step 9: Hands on the keys

Draw an arm from the shoulder to a hand on the keys. Add a sleeve line and the other arm.

Tip Bend the arm at the elbow. The other arm peeks out above it and reaches a little further.

  10. Step 10: Music and pedal

Above the keys draw a little desk and a page with 2 curved lines. Add a pedal near the floor.

Tip The curved lines are the music the kid is reading.

  11. Step 11: Peach and pink

Colour the face, neck, arms and hands peach. Add a pink cheek. Leave the eyes, keys and page white.

  12. Step 12: Yellow and red

Colour the T-shirt, its sleeve and the pedal yellow. Colour the seat and both shoes red.

  13. Step 13: Tan and blue

Colour the lid, the shelf, the little desk and the stool legs tan. Colour the trousers blue.

  14. Step 14: Brown and black

Colour the tall piano case, the hair and the ponytail brown. Colour the 2 small keys black.
