How to Draw an Elephant Shrew
Draw an elephant shrew in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.
Step 1: Egg head
On the left draw a big egg lying down. Make the left end a little pointy.
Tip Leave room on the right for the body.
Step 2: Long thin snout
From the pointy end draw a long thin snout drooping down, like a tiny trunk. Add a black tip.
Tip The long bendy snout is what makes it an elephant shrew.
Step 3: Eye and smile
Near the front of the head draw a big round eye with a black dot and shine. Add a smile.
Step 4: Big round ear
On the top back of the head draw a big round ear. Add a smaller oval inside it.
Step 5: Round body
Start on top of the head. Draw a big egg round the back and under the tummy to the chin.
Tip Make the back one smooth round hill.
Step 6: Long back leg
On the back of the body draw a round thigh. Bring a thin leg down to a long flat foot.
Tip Elephant shrews have long back feet for hopping.
Step 7: Thin front leg
Under the chest draw a thin leg straight down to a small paw, then back up.
Step 8: Far legs
In front of each leg draw another leg peeking out, from the tummy down to the ground.
Step 9: Long thin tail
Start on the back end. Draw a long tail curving down, getting thinner to a point.
Step 10: Tummy line
Start under the chin. Draw a sagging line along the body and stop at the thigh.
Step 11: Toes and ground
Give each near paw 2 short toe lines. Draw a ground line under the feet, from edge to edge.
Step 12: Pink and cream
Colour the inside of the ear pink. Colour the tummy under the line cream.
Step 13: Ginger fur
Colour the head, snout, ear, back, tail and 4 legs orange-brown, around the pink and cream. Leave the eye white.
