Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, draw a big egg lying on its side for the head.

Tip Leave lots of room below for the long pointed body.

  2. Step 2: Two feelers

Start on top of the head. Draw a curve up and out to a ball. Same on the right.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the middle of the head, draw 2 big egg eyes. Add black dots with shines.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes, draw a flat line and a U under it. Add a round cheek under each eye.

  5. Step 5: The cap

Start on the head's left side. Draw a low rainbow across the top, stopping on the right side.

Tip A hornet has a brown top on its head.

  6. Step 6: A round chest

Start on the chin. Draw a big round chest under the head, and stop back on the chin.

  7. Step 7: Waist and tummy

Start under the chest. Draw a tiny thin waist, then a long pointed tummy. Stop on the chest.

Tip A hornet has a tiny waist and a pointed bottom.

  8. Step 8: Three bold stripes

Start on the left of the tummy. Draw 2 smile lines across to the right. Make 3 fat stripes.

  9. Step 9: Long wings

From the chest under the head, draw a long thin wing up and out and back. Same on the right.

  10. Step 10: Four thin legs

Start on the chest. Draw a thin bent leg to a small round foot and back. Add 2 each side.

  11. Step 11: The stinger

Start on the point of the tummy. Draw a small sharp triangle pointing down, and stop back on the tummy.

  12. Step 12: Yellow face and tummy

Colour the face and tummy yellow, around the cheeks, mouth and stripes. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Amber wings, pink cheeks

Colour the 2 long wings a soft amber and the round cheeks pink.

  14. Step 14: Brown chest, red mouth

Colour the cap, chest, stripes, legs, stinger and feeler balls brown. Colour the open mouth red.
