How to Draw Dry Ice
Draw dry ice in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front.
Step 1: The front
In the middle of your paper, draw a big square with soft corners.
Tip Dry ice is a frozen block, so cold that fog pours off it.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the front, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Draw a wide U smile under the eyes. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The top face
From the top corners of the square, draw 2 slanted lines up to the right and join them.
Tip Keep the 2 slanted lines the same length.
Step 5: The side face
From the square's right edge, draw a slanted line up to the top face's corner, and one down the back.
Step 6: Frost dashes
In the top left of the front, draw 2 slanted dashes, and 1 on the top face, for the frost.
Step 7: Puffy fog
Start low on the left. Draw 7 puffy bumps across the block. Stop low on the right. Rub out underneath.
Tip Rub out the block's lines below the bumps. Make the first and last bumps big and round.
Step 8: Table line
Start near the left edge. Draw a table line joining the fog's 2 low ends. Stop near the right edge.
Tip Now the fog is one big cloud lying on the table.
Step 9: Fog puffs
In the air on each side of the block, draw a small cloud puff floating away.
Tip Keep the puffs small and away from the block.
Step 10: Sky ice
Go over your lines. Colour the front and the top light sky blue, leaving the eyes and cheeks white.
Step 11: Blue side face
Colour the side face blue, down to the fog.
Step 12: Grey fog, pink cheeks
Colour all the fog and the 2 puffs light grey. Colour the cheeks pink.
