How to Draw a Drinking Straw
Draw a drinking straw in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tall tube.
Step 1: The tall tube
Left of the middle draw 2 tall straight lines side by side, from low down to just above halfway.
Tip Keep the 2 lines the same distance apart all the way up.
Step 2: Round bottom
Start at the bottom of the left line. Draw a small curve dipping down, across to the right line.
Step 3: The bendy part
From the top of each line draw 4 little bumps curving over to the right. Make the left bumps bigger.
Tip The bumps are the folds that let a straw bend.
Step 4: Fold lines
Draw 5 lines across the bendy part: one where each pair of bumps meets, and one at each end.
Step 5: The top tube
From the last fold line draw 2 straight lines side by side, leaning up to the right.
Tip Make this tube as fat as the tall one, but much shorter.
Step 6: The opening
Close the end of the top tube with a thin oval. This is the hole you sip from.
Step 7: Tall stripes
Draw 6 slanted lines across the tall tube, evenly spaced, each one going up to the right.
Step 8: Top stripe
Draw 2 more slanted lines across the top tube, in the middle of it.
Step 9: Blue stripes
Go over your lines. Colour the bendy part blue, then every second stripe. Leave the others white.
Tip The stripes next to the bendy part stay white.
Step 10: Dark opening
Colour the inside of the oval dark blue. Your drinking straw is ready to sip!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a drinking straw, drawn by you.
