How to Draw a Dovecote
Draw a dovecote in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tall tower.
Step 1: The tall tower
In the middle of your paper draw a tall tower, a little narrower at the top.
Tip A dovecote is a whole tower of bird homes, much taller than a birdhouse.
Step 2: The cone roof
On top draw a pointed cone roof poking out past both sides.
Step 3: The door
At the bottom of the tower draw an arched door.
Step 4: Top row of holes
Near the top draw a ledge across the tower, poking out both sides. Draw 3 small arched holes on it.
Step 5: Two more rows
Draw 2 more ledges lower down, each with 3 little arched holes on it.
Step 6: The ground
Draw the ground line from the tower out to each edge. Add a small curved grass tuft on the right.
Step 7: Two pigeons
Above the middle ledge's right end draw a pigeon body, head and beak. Draw another low on the left.
Step 8: Eyes, wings, legs
Give each pigeon a big eye, a wing and 2 legs from its tummy down to the ledge or ground.
Step 9: Cream tower
Colour the tower cream, leaving the ledges, the holes and the door white. Press softly so the lines show.
Step 10: Grey pigeons
Colour the two pigeons grey, leaving their wings and eyes white.
Step 11: Brown roof, wooden door
Colour the cone roof brown and the door wood brown.
Step 12: Dark holes
Colour every pigeon hole dark slate. Go over all your lines and your dovecote is done!
