How to Draw a Dove
Draw a dove in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the top, a little left of the middle, draw a big round head. Leave room under it.
Step 2: Small fine beak
Start on the front of the head. Draw a small slim triangle beak out to the left, a finger long.
Step 3: One big eye
Behind the beak draw a big round eye. Fill it with a black dot, leaving a white shine.
Step 4: Plump body
From the back of the head draw a curve down to the tail, round a belly, up to the chin.
Tip The body is a little narrower than the head, so the head stays big.
Step 5: Fan tail
From the back end draw a fan pointing down and back, wide at the end. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 6: Folded wing
From under the head draw a curve to the tail, making a teardrop with the back. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 7: Front leg and toes
Under the tummy draw a thin leg getting narrower, then 3 short chubby toes curling down.
Step 8: Back leg and toes
A thumb behind the first leg draw a second leg and toes the same way. Leave a gap between.
Step 9: Branch
Under the toes draw a long flat stick with round ends. The toes wrap over its front.
Step 10: Olive sprig
From the beak tip draw a thin stem down to the left. Add 3 tiny pointed leaves on it.
Step 11: White dove, grey beak
Leave the head, the eye and the body white, like the paper. Colour the little beak grey.
Step 12: Grey wing, pink feet
Colour the wing and the fan tail soft grey, then colour the legs and toes pink.
Step 13: Green leaves, brown branch
Colour the little leaves green, then colour the branch light brown around the toes.
