How to Draw a Conch

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a conch in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big fat shell.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big fat shell

Low in the middle of your paper, draw a big fat egg, tipped up a little on the right.

  2. Step 2: Pointy spire

From the egg's right end, draw a pointy spire of 3 bumps. Join each top dip to the dip below.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

In the middle of the egg, draw 2 big egg eyes. Give each a black dot and a shine.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile. Add a small oval cheek at each end.

  5. Step 5: Round knobs

Along the top, add round knobs: 3 big ones on the egg and 2 small ones up the spire.

  6. Step 6: Flared lip

Start high on the egg's left side. Sweep a wide lip out like a fan, and stop under the egg.

  7. Step 7: The opening

Inside the lip, start high on the egg. Curve round, leaving a thick rim, and stop on the egg.

  8. Step 8: Sand and bubbles

Draw a sand line under the shell, almost edge to edge. Add 3 bubbles floating up on the right.

  9. Step 9: Peach shell

Colour the whole shell peach. Leave the opening, the eyes and the cheeks white.

  10. Step 10: Pink opening

Colour the opening and the 2 cheeks pink.

  11. Step 11: Sandy floor, blue bubbles

Colour the ground sandy and the bubbles light blue. Your conch is done!
