How to Draw a Dolphin Silhouette
Draw a dolphin silhouette in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: leaping body.
Step 1: Leaping body
Draw a big rainbow body. Make it thin at the tail on the left and fat at the head.
Tip The whole dolphin is one big curve, like a banana.
Step 2: Short beak
On the front of the head, draw a short blunt beak pointing down. Rub out the line inside.
Step 3: Tiny eye
Just behind the beak, draw one tiny round eye.
Step 4: Fin on top
On the top of the back, draw a fin that curves back to a point.
Tip The point of the fin leans towards the tail.
Step 5: Flipper
Under the chest, draw a leaf flipper pointing down and back.
Step 6: Tail flukes
On the thin end, draw 2 pointed tail flukes like a wide V, with a notch in the middle.
Step 7: Wavy water
Below the dolphin, draw a long wavy line right across your paper.
Tip The dolphin has jumped right out of the sea.
Step 8: Setting sun
Start on the water under the dolphin. Draw a big rainbow for the sun and stop on the water.
Step 9: Orange sun
Colour the half sun orange.
Step 10: Blue sea
Colour all the water under the wavy line blue, down to the bottom of the paper.
Step 11: Solid black dolphin
Colour the whole dolphin black, even the beak, fin, flipper and tail. Leave the tiny eye white.
Tip A silhouette is a solid dark shape with no details inside.
