How to Draw a Degu

Draw a degu in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long narrow head.

Step 1: Long narrow head
Near the top of your paper, draw a tall bun-shaped head: flat top, straight sides, round chin.
Tip A degu has a longer, narrower face than a hamster.
Step 2: Round ears
On top of the head, draw a round ear near each corner, poking up. Add a smaller round inside each.
Step 3: Two shiny eyes
Across the middle of the head, draw 2 big round eyes one eye apart. Put a black dot in each.
Tip Leave room round each eye for a pale ring.
Step 4: Nose and snout
Under the eyes, draw a small heart snout. Start a triangle nose in its dip, ending in a line down.
Step 5: A little smile
From the bottom of that line, draw a little smile curving up to each side, as wide as the nose.
Step 6: Round body
Under the head, draw a plump round body as wide as the head, from cheek to cheek.
Tip Wide and round like a cushion.
Step 7: Fists and a seed
Under the chin, draw a seed with a fist each side. Add plump arms from the cheeks to the fists.
Step 8: Cream tummy
Under the fists, draw a big wide oval tummy patch, tucked behind the fists.
Step 9: Feet on the ground
Draw a ground line under the body. Draw a plump bun foot at each bottom corner, with 2 toe lines.
Step 10: Upright brush tail
From the body's right side, draw a thin tail curving up beside it. Add a slim pointy brush tip.
Step 11: Whiskers
From each side of the snout, draw 2 thin whiskers out across the cheek. Stop well inside the head.
Step 12: Cream and pink
Colour a ring round each eye, the snout, tummy patch and seed cream. Colour the nose, fists and feet pink.
Step 13: Brown fur, black tip
Colour the head, ears, arms, body and tail light brown, around the cream and pink. Colour the tail tip black.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
