How to Draw a Counting Sheep
Draw a counting sheep in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: sloping head.
Step 1: Sloping head
Up on the left draw a long sloping head: wide and round at the top, narrower at the nose.
Tip The nose points down to the left. The sheep is high up because it is jumping.
Step 2: Eye and smile
Draw 1 big oval eye with a black dot. Add a nose dot and a curved smile.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in the eye.
Step 3: Woolly cap
On top of the head draw a small fluffy cloud of wool.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the cap.
Step 4: Two ears
Draw a leaf ear pointing back from under the cap. Add a small ear peeking out in front.
Step 5: Fluffy body
Behind the head draw a big cloud of wool with bumps all the way round.
Tip Make the cloud much longer than it is tall.
Step 6: Front legs
From under the wool draw 2 thin legs reaching forward. Each bends at a knee and ends in a hoof.
Tip Each leg is thick at the top and thin above the hoof.
Step 7: Back legs
Draw 2 back legs kicking out behind, each with a bend and a hoof.
Step 8: Little tail
At the back of the wool draw a short leaf tail flicking up.
Step 9: Low fence
Rule the ground. Under the sheep stand 3 pointed posts on it, with 2 long rails across.
Tip The rails go behind the posts. Keep the fence below the hooves.
Step 10: Moon and stars
In the sky draw a curved moon on the right and 3 stars with 5 points each.
Step 11: Yellow and cream
Colour the moon and the stars yellow. Colour the body wool, the cap and the tail cream.
Step 12: Light grey face
Colour the face and both ears light grey. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Brown fence
Colour the 3 posts and the 2 rails brown.
Step 14: Dark legs
Colour all 4 legs dark grey. Then colour the 4 small hooves black.
