How to Draw a Dogwood Flower
Draw a dogwood flower in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the twig.
Step 1: The twig
Start low on the left. Draw a twig up to the right, thinner at the top, stopping above the middle.
Tip Give the bottom end a round cap.
Step 2: The top petal
Just above the twig tip, draw a wide petal pointing up, with a little round dent in its top.
Tip Dogwood petals have a little notch at the end, like a dent.
Step 3: The side petals
From the same spot draw the same dented petal pointing right, and one pointing left.
Step 4: The bottom petal
Draw the fourth petal pointing down, so the 4 petals make a cross.
Step 5: The middle
Where the petals meet draw a small circle. Put a ring of 5 dots inside it.
Step 6: A smaller bloom
Halfway down the twig, on its left, draw a smaller dogwood the same way, 4 dented petals round a circle.
Step 7: 2 leaves
From the twig's right side draw 2 short stalks, each ending in a pointed leaf, one below each flower.
Step 8: Leaf veins
In each leaf draw a gently curved line from the stalk almost to the pointed tip.
Step 9: White petals
Go over your lines, then colour all the petals with a white crayon so they stand out.
Step 10: Yellow middles
Colour both flower middles yellow.
Step 11: Brown twig, green leaves
Colour the twig brown and both leaves green. Go over your lines and your dogwood is done!
