How to Draw a Dinosaur Land
Draw a dinosaur land in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long neck and head.
Step 1: Long neck and head
Start low on the left. Draw a line up, round a small egg head, and back down to stop.
Tip The 2 neck lines are close at the top and wider apart at the bottom. The head looks right.
Step 2: Back, tail and tummy
From the back neck line draw a round back, a long pointed tail and a tummy. Stop at the chest.
Tip The tail reaches out to the left and gets thinner all the way to its tip.
Step 3: Second dinosaur
On the right draw a small head on a short neck, a round back, a long tail and a tummy.
Tip It faces the long neck. Its tail points right and thins to a tip.
Step 4: Friendly faces
Give each dinosaur a round eye with a black dot and a little smile.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.
Step 5: Fat legs
Give each dinosaur 2 fat legs: round on top, thinner lower down, with a round foot and 2 toe lines.
Tip Each leg starts up on the body, at the shoulder or the hip.
Step 6: Far legs
Behind each fat leg draw another leg peeking out, a little shorter. Leave a gap between the pairs.
Tip Only draw the part you can see below the tummy.
Step 7: Back plates
Along the second dinosaur's back draw 4 plates like rounded leaves, tall in the middle.
Step 8: Ground line
Start at the left edge. Draw a ground line behind the dinosaurs. Stop at the right edge.
Step 9: The volcano
Start on the ground line. Draw a tall cone with a dipped top, between the dinosaurs. Stop behind the plates.
Step 10: Lava and smoke
From the dip draw 3 drips of lava running down. Above the top draw a puffy smoke cloud.
Step 11: A leafy fern
On the ground between the dinosaurs draw a fern: 5 pointed leaves fanning out from one spot.
Step 12: Green and orange
Go over your lines. Colour the long neck and the fern green. Colour the other dinosaur orange.
Tip Leave both eyes white.
Step 13: Red and grey
Colour the 4 back plates and the lava red. Colour the smoke grey.
Step 14: Volcano and ground
Colour the volcano brown, around the lava. Colour the ground sandy yellow, around the dinosaurs and the fern.
