How to Draw a Dinosaur Footprint
Draw a dinosaur footprint in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: heel and three toes.
Step 1: Heel and three toes
Draw a round heel with 3 fat toes spreading up. Start and stop each line short of the toe tips.
Tip The middle toe is the tallest.
Step 2: Pointy claws
Start on one side of each toe tip, draw a pointed claw, and stop on the other side.
Step 3: A mud patch
Draw a big lumpy patch of mud all round the print, well outside the claws.
Step 4: Side cracks
Draw 2 little zigzag cracks, one each side, from the print's edge out, stopping inside the mud.
Step 5: Heel crack
From the bottom of the heel, draw a little zigzag crack down to the left. Stop inside the mud.
Step 6: A pebble
Low on the left, in the mud, draw a small oval pebble.
Step 7: A tiny bird print
Bottom right, draw a tiny bird print: 3 short lines fanning up from one point, and one down.
Tip It shows how giant the dinosaur was!
Step 8: Tan mud
Colour the mud tan, around the big print and the pebble.
Step 9: Grey pebble
Colour the little pebble grey.
Step 10: Brown print and claws
Colour the big print and its claws brown, and your giant footprint is done!
