How to Draw a Dinosaur Egg Cracking
Draw a dinosaur egg cracking in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: baby dinosaur head.
Step 1: Baby dinosaur head
Start on the left, above the middle. Draw a big dome up and over, and stop on the right.
Tip Leave the bottom open. The egg will hide it.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
In the middle of the head draw 2 big round eyes a finger apart, with a black dot and shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw 2 nostril dots and a U smile. Add an oval cheek low beside each eye.
Step 4: Head spikes
Draw 3 soft spikes down the left of the dome, big to small. Each starts and ends on the head.
Step 5: Egg top hat
On top of the head draw a little dome with a zigzag bottom edge, tipped to the right.
Tip The broken egg top is a hat!
Step 6: Cracked shell
Start left of the head. Zigzag across the chin, then curve a fat egg bottom back to the start.
Tip Leave a little room underneath for the nest.
Step 7: Big spots
Draw 3 round spots on the shell in a slanting row: medium high on the left, big, then small.
Tip Spots of different sizes look best.
Step 8: Twig nest
Start left of the egg. Draw a bowl under it, back to the start. Add 3 twigs from its sides.
Tip The egg sits down inside the bowl. Add a ground line each side of the nest.
Step 9: Pink cheeks, sand shell
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the shell and egg top sand, leaving the spots white.
Step 10: Green head, brown nest
Colour the head, spikes and spots green around the cheeks, leaving the eyes white. Colour the nest brown.
