How to Draw a Dinosaur Cake

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a dinosaur cake in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cake.

Print

  1. Step 1: The cake

Low on the page draw a wide cake: a gently curved top, 2 straight sides and a curved bottom.

Tip Keep it in the bottom half: a dinosaur will stand on top.

  2. Step 2: Drippy icing

Start on the left side. Draw a wavy line of 7 round drips across to the right side.

  3. Step 3: Dinosaur head

High above the cake draw a big bean for the head, with a round snout pointing left.

  4. Step 4: Happy face

Draw a big oval eye with a black dot. Add a dot nostril on the snout and a long smile.

  5. Step 5: Back and tail

From the back of the head draw down the back, out to a pointy lifted tail, then back under it.

Tip Stop under the hip, a little above the cake.

  6. Step 6: Chest and arm

From the chin draw the chest down to the tummy. Add a small bent arm ending in 2 fingers.

  7. Step 7: Big leg

From the tummy draw a big leg: round thigh, bent shin, flat foot. Join it to the tail.

  8. Step 8: Back leg and tummy

Draw the back leg from the tail down to the cake. Curve a tummy line from chin to leg.

  9. Step 9: Five plates

Draw 5 rounded triangle plates: 1 on the head, 3 down the back and 1 small one on the tail.

  10. Step 10: Two candles

From the cake draw a thin candle near each end, back down to the cake. Top each with a flame.

  11. Step 11: Sprinkles and plate

Draw 7 short sprinkle dashes on the cake. Curve a plate under it, from one side round to the other.

  12. Step 12: Yellow and cream

Go over your lines. Colour the 5 plates and 2 flames yellow, and the tummy patch cream.

  13. Step 13: Pink icing, brown cake

Colour the drippy icing pink. Colour the cake under it light brown.

  14. Step 14: Green dinosaur

Colour the dinosaur green and leave the eye white. Colour the 2 candles and the plate blue.
