How to Draw Kimchi
Draw kimchi in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
Start on the left and draw a wide flat oval below the middle, stopping where you began.
Step 2: The bowl
Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a big U down and round, stopping at the right end.
Step 3: The foot
Under the bowl draw a short stand. Start on the bottom left, go down and across, stop on the right.
Step 4: A heap of cabbage
Start at the left end of the rim. Draw big frilly bumps up and over, stopping at the right end.
Tip Rub out the back of the rim inside the bumps, so the heap sits in the bowl.
Step 5: Cabbage stalks
Draw 3 stalks up from the front of the rim, spreading out and getting thinner, with small round tops.
Step 6: Leaf veins
From the top of each stalk draw a short line on up into the leaf, stopping before the edge.
Step 7: Chilli flakes
Draw 4 tiny chips spread about on the heap, around the stalks, for chilli flakes.
Step 8: Chopsticks
Start inside the heap on the right. Draw 2 long sticks side by side, leaning up to the right.
Step 9: Stripe and spots
Draw a bowed line round the bowl under the rim, from left side to right. Add 4 spots under it.
Step 10: The table
Draw a line under the foot from well left to well right, just touching its bottom.
Step 11: Red kimchi
Go over your lines, then colour the stalks cream and the heap red, around the chopsticks and flakes.
Step 12: Wood chopsticks
Colour the chopsticks wood brown and the chilli flakes dark brown.
Step 13: Blue spots, white bowl
Colour the band under the rim and the spots blue, leaving the rest of the bowl white.
