How to Draw a Dinner Roll

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a dinner roll in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the roll.

Print

  1. Step 1: The roll

A little left of the middle draw a big round bun, wider than tall, with a flat bottom.

  2. Step 2: A score line

Near the top of the bun draw a short curved line, starting left of the middle, stopping right of it.

  3. Step 3: A second roll

On the right draw a smaller bun tucked behind: start on the big bun, go round, stop on it.

  4. Step 4: A third roll

On the left, tucked behind the big bun and lower, draw a small bun the same way.

  5. Step 5: Sesame seeds

Draw small slanted ovals for sesame seeds, 4 on the big bun and 2 on each small one.

  6. Step 6: A shine

Along the upper left edge of the big bun draw a thin curved sliver for a shine.

  7. Step 7: A plate

Under the rolls draw a long flat oval plate, skipping behind the buns, and a second oval inside.

  8. Step 8: The table

Draw a table line under the plate from left to right, just touching its bottom.

  9. Step 9: Tan rolls

Go over your lines, then colour all 3 rolls tan, leaving the seeds and shine white.

  10. Step 10: Sky plate

Colour the plate sky blue around the rolls, and your dinner rolls are done!
